The Apostle (1917)

This Argentine animated film, a pioneering achievement as the world's first animated feature, was long considered lost. It depicts President Hipólito Yrigoyen of Argentina dreaming of reaching Olympus as an apostle. There, he converses with the gods about the actions of Buenos Aires residents and his own political failures. Congressmen appear to voice their opinions, and Yrigoyen laments the city's administrative chaos and financial woes. He then asks Zeus for lightning to purify Buenos Aires of vice and corruption. Zeus grants his wish, unleashing lightning that devastates the city's buildings, after which Yrigoyen awakens.
