Description:
ORANGE draws from a filmmaking tradition where the film itself is physically altered, using techniques like painting or adding objects to the filmstrip. This approach, pioneered by Len Lye in his 1935 work *A Colour Box*, involves direct manipulation of the film. For *ORANGE*, Gregg Biermann cut an orange into pieces, scanned them, and then digitally "pasted" the resulting images directly onto the video strip. This process creates the illusion of a chaotic, random explosion of orange fragments when the video is played.
