Description:
Before Michael Mak’s *Sex and Zen* became a cult classic in the 1990s, Ho Fan’s *Yu Pui Tsuen* (1987) offered a different approach. Lacking the elements of sex, crude humor, and lesbian romance, this film relies on nudity and sex from its lesser-known cast. After a night of passion, a young man has a disturbing dream and seeks a Buddhist monk to interpret it. The monk warns him against excessive indulgence in physical pleasures, but the man disregards the advice, marrying a virgin and engaging in frequent lovemaking. Eventually, after numerous passionate encounters, he begins to understand the wisdom of the monk’s warning.
