Description:
"I Yam What I Yam...L'invenzione" connects two films shot on the same location: Emidio Greco's 1974 film "L'invenzione di Morel" and Robert Altman's 1980 film "Popeye." In Greco's film, a shipwreck survivor discovers a modern mansion where people are trapped in an endless present by a reality-reproducing machine. Sant's reimagining of this film uses the same location but places the protagonist in 'Sweethaven,' the set of Altman's "Popeye." While Greco's set is gone, Altman's 'Sweethaven' remains as a living museum where actors perform scenes, echoing the original plot.
