Dichterliebe (2000)

Oliver Herrmann's 2000 film, *Dichterliebe*, adapts Robert Schumann’s song cycle of the same name, dissolving the line between song recital and everyday life. Set in a Berlin nightclub, the film evokes the intimate, dimly lit atmosphere of a salon where these songs might have originally been performed. By returning to this setting, the film moves away from the typical concert hall environment of modern-day song recitals.
