Description:
Abel, a 47-year-old veteran of two wars and an immigrant, returns abruptly to his childhood village in northern Portugal, near the border – the place he left so long ago. A letter from his brother Peter warns him that everything has changed, especially Teresa. Abel sees echoes of his past in the village hills and among the old villagers, but the past feels distant, with only an old dog remaining. He discovers Teresa will be participating in a ritual called the Act of Passion. Abel then formulates a plan: to systematically eliminate Teresa's potential partners, culminating in her death during the ritual.
