Planet Hemp: MTV ao Vivo (2001)

Planet Hemp's most resilient member is in the spotlight on this MTV Live CD, recorded in May for the Music Television project that has previously featured albums from Ira! and Raimundos. With a tight lineup – D2 and BNegão (vocals), Rafael (guitar), Formigão (bass), and Pedrinho (drums) – the band streamlined their sound, omitting DJ, keyboards, and backing vocals. The result is a powerful rock album, with rap vocals being the only nod to hip hop. This stripped-down Planet Hemp has traded its usual sonic experimentation (particularly from their last album, "A Invasão do Sagaz Homem Fumaça") for raw energy – a style as straightforward and effective as the justifications used to censor their concerts.
