Description:
In Jerusalem's Orthodox Mea Shearim neighborhood as the year 2000 nears, women dedicate their lives to family and home so men can focus on religious study. Rivka is content in her marriage to Meir, but they haven't had children. Meir's father, the yeshiva rabbi, pressures Meir to divorce Rivka, believing a childless woman is unacceptable. Meanwhile, Rivka's sister, Malka, is in love with Yakov, a man ostracized by the yeshiva for being too secular. The rabbi arranges for Malka to marry Yossef, whose intense religious observance becomes unsettling. Can the sisters find happiness within the constraints of their community? Or are they forced to seek other paths?
