Description:
In February 2014, paramilitary groups in Kyiv overthrew President Yanukovych and established a new government, hailed as revolutionary heroes by Western media. However, these groups were heavily armed extreme-right militias like Right Sector, Azov, and Svoboda, who created uncontrolled irregular forces. In Odessa that same year, they were responsible for the deaths of 45 people in a fire, without consequence. The film questions why Western democracies haven't strongly condemned these militias, suggesting their role in a larger conflict. Supported by US diplomacy, Ukraine has become a crucial pawn in the new Cold War, a tactical tool to limit Russia's influence. "Ukraine, Masks of the Revolution" by Paul Moreira explores this overlooked aspect of the conflict.
