The Rainbow-Colored Flower (1950)

Ebihara, an aspiring novelist, finds himself deeply involved with three women from different stages of life. There's Kazue, a young woman who survived the war and attempts to earn money through intimacy, but Ebihara offers her a home instead. Then there's Koyabu, a woman in her middle years who has spent much of her life as the companion to a wealthy man. And finally, Teruko, the quiet daughter of Ebihara's old teacher, who becomes dependent on him after her father's death.
