"Isla Chatarra" explores the overwhelming presence of cars in Puerto Rico. The island, just under 9,000 square kilometers, boasts an astonishing 25,000 kilometers of paved roads – a remarkably high ratio. Puerto Rico ranks among the countries with the most vehicles per kilometer of road and is third globally for cars per 1,000 residents. The film aims to spark awareness and discussion about our reliance on automobiles, while also revealing the environmental consequences of an island increasingly buried in scrap metal.
