A personal look at the life of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910-1991), a highly respected spiritual leader in Tibet. A writer, poet, and meditation teacher, Rinpoche inspired many. The Dalai Lama was among his students worldwide. This film chronicles Rinpoche's life from childhood to his passing, following his flight from Tibet after the Chinese invasion and his dedication to preserving Buddhist teachings. Featuring rare images of Tibet, Bhutan, and Nepal, and interviews with the Dalai Lama, the film is made by director Matthieu Ricard, a French photographer, Buddhist monk, and author who spent over 14 years traveling with Rinpoche.
