Following the Watergate scandal, Jimmy Carter capitalized on public disillusionment to win the presidency. However, his term was significantly challenged by economic difficulties including inflation and recession, as well as the Iran hostage crisis. A major accomplishment was the Camp David Accords, which established a framework for peace in the Middle East and profoundly influenced his later life. This film follows his journey from Plains, Georgia, to the White House and examines the influence of his faith on his political path. This is the first part of a two-part series.
