Description:
During a robbery at a Prague jeweler's shop, the shop manager Kubát and his deputy Litera are shot. The thieves escape with jewelry in a stolen car and hide the loot in a forest outside Prague. The robbers split up: Burian takes the car alone, while Duda and Hovorka flee in another, which crashes. Hovorka dies, but Duda survives and hides. Burian is arrested, and Duda is found by police dogs. He confesses to the crime but doesn't reveal the jewelry's location. During the interrogation, Duda attacks Málek, a criminologist, who shoots him in self-defense. The court doesn't find enough evidence to convict Litera, and only Burian is convicted. Disheartened, Málek quits the police force and becomes a taxi driver.
