Description:
A Brazilian filmmaker named Lucas travels to Portugal after his mother's death in Brazil to uncover his family's Portuguese heritage. He discovers a complex love story: his father, Olavo, was the son of a wealthy industrialist who disapproved of his marriage to Lucas's mother, Alice, a poor woman living in a boarding house. The family emigrated to Brazil before World War II and settled in Minas Gerais. While researching his past, Lucas uncovers potential criminal activity by his father. He teams up with Teresa, a young Portuguese woman restoring old churches, to piece together his mother's history, and unexpectedly falls in love with Teresa.
