Description:
Douglas Gordon's film presents a unique cinematic event: the movie *D.O.A.* is shown on three screens side-by-side, each at a slightly different speed. The films quickly become out of sync. Using footage from the 1949-50 Hollywood thriller *D.O.A.* by Rudolph Mateé, the film is projected simultaneously at normal speed, then at 25, 24, and 23 frames per second (from left to right). This creates a growing divergence in the three identical stories, giving the viewer a sensation akin to déjà-vu.
