Description:
Robert Lachmann, a German-Jewish ethnomusicologist, hosted a radio show called "Oriental Music" in the 1930s. The program showcased the musical traditions of Palestine, featuring live performances by musicians from various ethnic and religious backgrounds. Inspired by Lachmann's research, Palestinian artist Jumana Manna journeys through present-day Israel and the Palestinian territories with recordings from the show. The film explores how these songs sound today when performed by Moroccan, Kurdish, or Yemenite Jews, Samaritans, Palestinian communities in cities and villages, Bedouins, and Coptic Christians.
