Description:
This is a bleak psychological drama exploring the tension between a man's inner world and societal constraints. Viktor (Sven Wolter) escapes to an island for his annual summer vacation, ostensibly to find antiques for his wife’s shop in Stockholm. His marriage is deeply troubled, marked by a past act of violence and intense erotic fantasies. On the island, he befriends a young girl whose mother is confined to a locked room by her husband, who is mentally unstable. The islanders are reserved, and interactions feel strained. Viktor's own detachment begins to erode as he takes drastic measures to help the imprisoned woman, but his efforts are futile. His final actions suggest a refusal to accept defeat.
