From soldiers to monks, hats identify individuals throughout the city. Director Nati Adler, who isn't religious or a hat-wearer himself, investigates the significance of Jerusalem's diverse headwear. His journey through the headdresses of the city’s three religions evolves from a simple documentary project into an exploration of stories and history. Each answer raises further questions: Why are hats so prevalent in Jerusalem? What is a shtreimel? Why don't Armenian Christians use Turkish hats? And why do women cover their heads?
