Description:
"A Spiritual Matter" is the first adaptation of an Ingmar Bergman script released after his death. The film centers on Viktoria, a 40-year-old woman who appears to be experiencing a mental breakdown and delivers a powerful monologue detailing key moments in her life. Viktoria (Sophie Marceau), the daughter of a bishop and wife of a pastor, speaks to herself, revealing her inner world: her happiness and sorrows, her childhood, and her relationship with her unfaithful husband. She journeys through different lives, seemingly inhabiting multiple roles. Through memories, dreams, fantasies, and hallucinations, she vividly revives her deceased husband, parents, and friends.
