Purgatorio (2008)

A man journeys through a purgatorial landscape – a representation of his own life – where he is repeatedly hindered by the tangible world around him. These objects and things that populate his environment impede his progress, bind him, and often torment him. They embody, for Romeo Castellucci, the essence of purgatory: the repetitive nature of human existence, the burden of daily routines, the confines of the ordinary body, and our interactions with a pre-determined world of familiar things and life's basic elements.
