Hoffnung für Kummerow (2009)

In the small German town of Kummerow, facing dwindling opportunities and an exodus of young people, Mayor Oskar Kubiczek struggles to keep his town and his marriage afloat. A potential investment from a Bavarian company offers a glimmer of hope, with a consultant on the way. However, the townspeople remain skeptical. Oskar finds support only in his friend Niels and his wife Irmgard, who desires to leave Kummerow and resume her career as a midwife. Ultimately, Oskar rallies the community, inspiring them to unite for the upcoming rowing regatta – a challenge not just to their rivals, the Zechin rowing club, but to their own despair.
