Description:
Barahona explains that his film, while inspired by Luiz Ruffato's book, evolved from a documentary concept into a feature film with documentary elements. He aimed to explore the reasons behind Brazilian emigration to Portugal, casting both amateur and non-professional actors in both countries to incorporate real-life stories. Unlike the author, who found his characters in real people, Barahona sought individuals whose experiences mirrored those in the book. Drawn to the novel's "false documentary" style – presented as a transcribed interview – he mirrored this narrative with a main character addressing the camera. The film is about emigration, exploring both dreams and disappointments.
