Description:
The original "Pontianak" film, directed by B.N. Rao and starring Maria Menado, was a major success, leading to two sequels in 1957: "Dendam Pontianak" (Revenge of Pontianak) and "Sumpah Pontianak" (The Curse of Pontianak), both also starring Maria Menado. "Dendam Pontianak" introduced additional supernatural elements, including the witch Nenek Kebayan. By "Sumpah Pontianak," the story featured a wider array of creatures: four Pontianak vampires, an Orang Hutan, a bird-lizard creature, and a Hantu Raya. "Sumpah Pontianak" is an entertaining Malay horror film with low-budget special effects. The main character, Comel, is afflicted by the Pontianak curse, and the villagers begin to die.
