Description:
A year and a half ago, filmmaker Nick Dorsky insisted I visit Chartres Cathedral in France. Having studied its stained glass, sculpture, and architecture for years, and read Henry Adams' book on it repeatedly, I did, accompanied by French filmmaker Jean-Michele Bouhours. The experience profoundly shifted my aesthetic sensibilities. Later, upon learning of Marilyn Monroe's sister's death and unable to attend the funeral, I began working on a film project, reflecting on both the death and Chartres. Eight months later, the resulting work – a suite of four short films – was completed as a tribute to Chartres and dedicated to Wendy Jull.
