During a late-night encounter, the unassuming teenager Rey is brutally attacked by a group of hardened men: Pogi, Jopet, Kahoy, and Taba, who are in the middle of a drunken revel. Pogi harbors a secret resentment towards Rey because he is in love with Rey’s girlfriend. Jopet, posing as a police informant, sees Rey as an outlet for his anger towards his abusive superior. Kahoy and Taba join the attack for the sake of being together. After regaining consciousness, Rey discovers his attackers asleep and intoxicated. The director states, "In the Philippines, we're so accustomed to seeing these things that we don't even recognize them. We're too passive, and we need to wake up!"
