Description:
In 2015, a global recession has devastated the Japanese economy, leaving unemployment at over 35 percent and driving 150,000 people to suicide annually. Amidst this crisis, a TV program called "24-hour Marriage Battle Royale" becomes a shocking sensation. The show features women in debt competing for the chance to marry famous celebrities overseas, with the ultimate penalty being humiliation or death. Hana Shinjo, a former idol seeking a fresh start, joins the competition. She finds herself competing against a diverse group of women: a single mother, a former businesswoman, a hostess, a criminal, a high school student, and others. A desperate fight for survival ensues.
