Description:

Marseilles, 1919. Georges Sarret, a respected lawyer recently celebrated for his war service, begins a relationship with Philomène Schmidt, a young German woman who has lost her job and home. To help Philomène stay in France, Georges arranges a marriage for her – the husband dies shortly after the wedding. He repeats this process with Philomène's sister, Catherine, marrying her to an elderly man who conveniently dies soon after, allowing the trio to profit from his life insurance. When their accomplice, Marcel Chambon, threatens to blackmail them, Georges and his two lovers are forced to murder him and his mistress.
