Description:
This film is based on the true story of Clarence Brandley, a Black man wrongly convicted in 1980 of murdering a 16-year-old white girl, Cheryl Ferguson. Brandley worked at Conroe High School, where Ferguson was visiting with her volleyball team. He was arrested three days after her body was found. Activist and city council member Jew Don Boney champions the effort to expose the truth behind Ferguson's murder. Texas attorney Mike DeGeurin and former minister Jim McCloskey become Brandley's defense team. They uncover a complete lack of evidence against him and discover that the District Attorney has been secretly working with the judge. After nine years in prison, three trials, and a stay of execution, Brandley is finally exonerated.
