Description:

Jeju-do, the largest of Korea's islands, is situated between Korea and Japan. For generations, women have free-dived to the ocean floor, collecting shellfish, octopus, and sea urchins to sell. These divers are now in their sixties and seventies, but their daughters are reluctant to continue this demanding way of life, with its associated health risks. As a filmmaker, I had the privilege of meeting these women and diving alongside them. Their stories of struggle and resilience solidified my commitment to documenting this remarkable and enduring tradition.
