Description:
In an Idaho diner, a simple-minded ex-convict named Ricky connects with Beth, a waitress with a similarly limited intellect. They embark on a road trip to Washington and begin a sexual relationship. Beth, a lonely fan of romance novels, becomes deeply infatuated, while Ricky is primarily interested in the physical aspect. Their shared desire for a California visit and Ricky's need for money lead them into a precarious predicament. Director Jost employs experimental visual and storytelling methods—including montages, collages, split screens, and extended humorous speeches—to depict the darkly comedic tale of two deeply flawed individuals pursuing love.
