Jaap Hoogstra: Geboorte Werd Hem Zijn Dood (2005)

Jaap Hoogstra: Birth Became His Death (2005), also known as Jaap Hoogstra - A Piece of Monologue, is a portrait of Dutch theatre actor Jaap Hoogstra (1915–1998), renowned for introducing Samuel Beckett to audiences in the Netherlands. The film focuses on Hoogstra as he discusses his life as a gay man while rehearsing Beckett's fifteen-minute play, A Piece of Monologue, from 1980. Featuring music by Willy Alberti, the film also includes excerpts from Hoogstra's previous work in Kaganof's adaptation of Georges Bataille's The Dead Man 2: Return of the Dead Man (1994), notably the controversial urophilia scene.
