Description:
Anna and Peiter, both 11, have been friends for years. Peiter's parents are divorced, and he spends one week each year with his father on the same island as Anna. This year, however, they struggle to connect, perhaps due to the start of puberty. Day after day, their attempts at closeness fail. Peiter brags about his abilities, and Anna challenges him to retrieve something for her. He does, bringing her chair from inside a café – an act that will have further significance. Another day, he boasts about not being afraid of being locked in a tower. Anna locks him in, but her parents stop her from letting him out, leaving Peiter alone overnight. By the end of the week, the distance between them remains.
