Description:
The film follows a filmmaker's attempts to connect with Peter Berlin, a 1970s gay sex icon, who seems to exist only in photographs. The film unfolds in three parts, presented in chronological order. Initially, the filmmaker recreates Berlin’s looks and poses, playfully mimicking his artistic image. Then, each frame of Berlin's original 16mm film is painstakingly hand-painted to distort the images, creating a fragmented, animated effect. Later, a voiceover recounts anxious thoughts about meeting Berlin, intercut with scenes of luxurious homes and shop windows. Finally, the film features an interview with Berlin in his apartment, where he describes a unique encounter that blurs gender and generations, a moment when the two filmmakers’ identities briefly merge.
