This award-winning film is a deeply personal story about a woman grappling with the grief of a father she never met. Tracy Droz Tragos documents her journey to understand and cope with the loss shared by the roughly 20,000 Americans whose fathers died in the Vietnam War. Through moving interviews combined with home movies, archival footage, and family photos, Tragos travels from Selma, Alabama, to Washington D.C., seeking out her father’s Naval Academy classmates and war companions. Each man has privately mourned his death and remembers her father differently. During her search, Tragos uncovers a 30-year-old mystery, learning about her father as a person, separate from the impact of the war.
