His filmmaking career was uniquely singular in French cinema, marked by overtly fantastic, surreal, and poetic – often unsettling – works. Though frequently criticized, Rollin is finally gaining recognition in France, while already beloved by many fans in Europe and the United States. He crafted a distinctive, obscure body of work centered on themes of death and nostalgia, obsessed with the passage of time, particularly that of wandering and dreams. Jean Rollin passed away in December 2010 at 72. This documentary presents a portrait of this true artist, the last surrealist, a poet who built his own dreamlike world. It's a tribute to a singular director, featuring insights from those closest to him.
