Romantic Warriors: A Progressive Music Saga (2010)

This 95-minute award-winning documentary features ten current progressive music bands: Cabezas De Cera, Cheer-Accident, Deluge Grander, D.F.A., Karmakanic, La Maschera Di Cera, Oblivion Sun, Phideaux, Qui, and Rob Martino. The musicians share their backgrounds, influences, how they create music, the obstacles they encounter, and their strategies for selling music in the digital age. The film explores the genre's international appeal while highlighting the Eastern United States, particularly the Baltimore-Philadelphia area, as a key location for the post-1970s revival of progressive music. It also examines the passion and community surrounding progressive music, including its festivals and supporting ecosystem. The documentary received the 2011 Bronze Peer Award for Best Documentary, a prestigious award within the Mid-Atlantic film community, and is sponsored annually by TIVA-DC to recognize excellence in local media.
