Description:
On March 17, 1930, people gathered outside Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary to see Al Capone's release. Morrison and Vijay Iyer take a single, historic panning shot of that scene – filmed in 1930 by Jack Painter – along with the original audio recording from 1930 by Addison Tice. They transform this into a split-screen, surround sound film that loops back on itself. The result is a short cinematic piece reflecting on how we watch and what we find compelling in public displays.
