Description:
A spacecraft lands on Europa, Jupiter’s icy moon, in temperatures of minus 260 degrees and intense radiation. Its mission: to break through the surface and deploy a probe into the water beneath the ice. The project's lead is Bill Stone, a leading underwater explorer and inventor who has been developing robots for such a mission. Now, he and his team are testing an autonomous underwater vehicle called Endurance in Antarctica’s icy waters. As Endurance descends, CGI animation illustrates how its future version would perform on Europa. We follow it as it travels across the solar system and slowly enters Europa’s liquid ocean, observing its operations. Getting a robot through Europa's ice and into its oceans presents a significantly greater challenge than anything Stone’s team has accomplished before.
