Description:
Following the fall of the Soviet Union, Ukraine struggled with widespread social and political upheaval, marked by growing government corruption and failing infrastructure. Many young people became homeless, turning to dangerous combinations of medication and alcohol. In the early 2000s, Gennadiy Mokhnenko, a pastor from Mariupol, began a controversial campaign against child homelessness. He forcibly took street children to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center, the largest of its kind in the region. Gennadiy's persistent efforts and uncompromising methods have earned him both admiration and condemnation, positioning him as a complex figure in the eyes of his community. Despite the criticism, he remains committed to his work.
