The Wilgus Stories (2000)

This trilogy follows the coming-of-age of young Wilgus Collier, inspired by the short stories of Kentucky author Gurney Norman. We see key moments in his life at three different stages: a formative encounter with a charismatic trickster at nine, a rebellious relationship with his uncle at fourteen, and a complicated connection with the woman he's always admired, now that he's twenty-three and she's thirty-seven.
