Half Nelson (1985)

Rocky Nelson, a New York police officer who sells the film rights to his successful bust, decides to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. He soon discovers he's considered too short for the role. He's then offered a position with a Hollywood security agency, leveraging his police background to connect with influential figures who might help him break into the industry. As a perk, he gets to stay at Dean Martin's guest house.
