Description:
On April 26th, 1986, a reactor explosion at Chernobyl releases a massive radioactive cloud over Northern Ukraine and Belarus. The extent of the danger is initially concealed from the world and local residents, who continue with their lives. As May Day celebrations begin, people go about their routines, unaware of the escalating crisis. Within three days, a vast area, equivalent to England, becomes contaminated, creating a heavily polluted zone. Based on Mario Petrucci's poems, "Heavy Water: a film for Chernobyl" and "Half Life: a Journey to Chernobyl," the film portrays the experiences of those directly involved in managing the disaster: firefighters, soldiers, liquidators, and their families.
