Description:
Paul Rotha's 1950 film, *No Resting Place*, marks his feature debut. Shot in Ireland, it's a loosely fictionalized look at the lives of traveling workers. Michael Gough stars as Alec Kyle, a tinker whose life is disrupted when he accidentally kills someone. The film follows Kyle's flight from Guard Mannigan (Noel Purcell), a civil servant who uses intuition to track him down. Director Rotha effectively portrays the harsh realities of life for Ireland's nomadic artisans, without resorting to sentimentality.
