Description:
"The Whalers" documents the last whaling voyage in the Arctic before World War II. While partly a documentary, the film follows the journey of Allan Blom, the irresponsible son of a wealthy man. Forced to join the expedition, Allan proves his courage at sea and earns the love of Sonja. The whaling scenes are thrilling, though the depiction of processing a whale carcass may be disturbing for some viewers. Originally filmed in Swedish and Norwegian in 1939, the film was later subtitled in English for its American release in 1942.
