Steam to the Grand Canyon (2002)

In August 2002, the historic steam locomotive 3751 made a return journey from Los Angeles to Williams, Arizona, and back, celebrating the NRHS 2002 National Convention. The powerful 4-8-4 navigated the Cajon Pass before traveling across the desert to Needles, captivating onlookers with its impressive steam. The following day, 3751 reached Williams and prepared for a special excursion on the Grand Canyon Railway. This Convention highlight showcased 3751 running in tandem with Grand Canyon Railway's own steam engines, creating a breathtaking spectacle of double and triple-headed trains against the backdrop of the South Rim.
