Description:
In rural Yunnan, China, a peasant couple, Zhao Deshan and Xiuzhi, have their lives changed when the local mayor gifts them two foreign sheep from a former villager now working in Beijing. They're tasked with breeding the sheep for wool, intended to bring prosperity to their community. However, the animals struggle to adapt to their new home, forcing Zhao and Xiuzhi to find increasingly creative ways to exaggerate their worth. In the process, they grow to cherish the sheep as family. When it's revealed the sheep aren't the miracle they were made out to be, the authorities take them back.
