Sergey Dvortsevoy's first feature is a deeply personal look at a nomadic family living on the Kazakh steppes. The film features moments of quiet humor: a child's dramatic reaction to finishing yogurt, a cow's unfortunate predicament with a pail, and a woman singing to her sleeping husband. Other scenes depict the family's challenging existence – including scenes of despair among the herdsmen, aggressive dogs, and a camel undergoing a painful piercing. Ultimately, the family decides to move their camels, cattle, goats, dogs, and horses to a more promising land. The film premiered at the 1999 Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival.
