Description:
The new owners of Deepak Mahal speak with Mattu, the caretaker, who recounts the history of the estate's previous inhabitants: Bijondra, the sole heir of a wealthy Hindu Brahmin landowner, and Banani, the only child of a single father, a Banjara Sardar. The story begins with Bijondra's father ordering the Banjaras off his property. Bijondra, a flute player, then meets and falls in love with Banani, a beautiful dancer. This love leads to him being disowned by his furious father, while Banani's father arranges her marriage to Banjara Madhal.
