Description:
Asha enjoys a privileged life in Bombay with her widowed father, who hopes she will marry Dr. Prakash. While on vacation in Kashmir, she meets and falls in love with Rajan. Returning home for Dr. Prakash's birthday, Asha discovers Rajan is a friend of his. Introductions are made between families, and both sets of parents approve of their relationship. However, Rajan had promised his deceased father he would earn a degree from Oxford and return in a year. He sets off by boat, but a tragic accident results in his death. Devastated by the news, Asha learns Rajan's death has also profoundly affected her father. She throws herself into her work as a doctor, working closely with Prakash.
